running through downtown augusta

It’s been an exciting and satisfying year for me as a Sugoi brand champion.  I flew the brand champion colors at running races in Ohio, Illinois and Wisconsin, and  Olympic distance tris in Illinois, Wisconsin and Michigan.  A personal highlight was completing my first half ironman this past September in Augusta, GA.  For any brand champions who may be considering this event in the future, I can recommend the Augusta race without hesitation.  The swim is fast - with the current in the clean Savannah River. The bike portion takes place in scenic rural South Carolina, and the run was a two loop course in downtown Augusta.  I chose this race as the date allowed me to prepare all summer and the really hot weather had peaked by then.  Due to the cooler, shorter days starting in early fall however, I found my swim practice lake engulfed in morning fog and my kayak escort needed a headlamp to alert early morning fishermen!

My competition is over for this year except for a turkey trot in Cincinnati (the 100th annual!).  I am indoors for core work and lap pool, but still outside for running and biking.  There are several Sugoi products I especially appreciate this time of year.  One is women’s Tl windblock jersey.  The firewall panels in the front and high neck collar allow me to comfortably cycle late into the fall.  It will also be a great cross country ski jersey.  My current favorite running jersey is the Sugoi Mistral L/S.  It’s zip neck is great for keeping the cold air out, and the brushed fleece interior is super soft and comfy.  It keeps me warm and wicks well at the same time!  Also,  I find the turbo racer swimsuit to fit comfortably and stand up well to the pool chlorine.   In fact, several women at the health club pool have remarked about how they love my suit and have asked where they can get one.   And, you owe it to yourself to try the R + R (race and recovery) socks for running.   They are padded in just the right spots without being bulky and they fit perfectly.
